XI Board

The 11th Board of BEST was elected during the XVI GA in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in April 1998. It is composed by the following members:

President: Vitor Santiago Nunes - Coimbra
Vice-President: Andrei Hohan - Bucharest
Vice-President: Clara Edman- Stockholm
Treasurer: Ana Luisa Pinto- Porto
Secretary: Valerica Telcean - Timisoara

During the transition period for the new structure presented on the XVI GA in Cluj Napoca and in order to implement it, we decided to invite the co-ordinator of SPOC to work together with us. In this way Ur?ka Dem?ar and two VP of the Board started working like project leaders assuring the leading of the following areas of interest in BEST:

Complementary Education: Ur?ka Dem?ar - Ljubljana
Educational Matters: Clara Edman - Stockholm
Career Supplies: Andrei Hohan - Bucharest

At the PM in Torino the new coordinator of SPOC was elected: Viktor Iklodi. He was invited to continue his work together with the board as associated member.

One of the new ideas that were brought in BEST by the XI Board, was that of the Consultancy meetings

In order to improve the communication between the Board, committees and LBGs the 11th Board decided to invest in the creation of a new type of meetings: the so called Consultancy Meetings. We expect these meetings to be the forums of discussions about our organisation, its development, the existing programmes and new projects and guarantee a better communication flow inside BEST. The first place where we tried this new concept of meetings was Budapest (during the Jamboree ?98). Till the PM we managed (with the help of LBGs of course) to have two more, Stockholm and Liege. More over, achievements during the X board mandate include:

Publishing the BEST News and spreading across Europe
Creation of Alumni webpages, which was part of BEST website
Started working on the SQL Version of Minerva
New Information systems were developed, such as a web archive, BEST registration pages for applications to events and a mail exchanger
