Events
What is a BEST event for students? Throughout the year BEST organises different
activities where students from member universities get the opportunity to increase their international
experience, establish contacts, improve their English and have fun. Each BEST event is attended by 20-30
engineering students like you, who have something in common: they want to live a unique experience,
different from day-to-day school life!
BEST events are organised throughout the whole year. There are Seasonal events such
as BEST Courses, BEST Events on Education, BEST Seasonal Engineering
Competitions and BEST Leisure events. Moreover there are European BEST
Engineering Competition (EBEC), Local, National and Regional BEST
Engineering Competitions.

BEST Courses
- Visit companies, industrial plants and research centres
- Take part in case studies
- Follow interesting lectures covering many different technology fields, economics, marketing and management
- Receive ECTS credits in recognised courses
In these events, participants attend lectures given by the university's teaching staff or by
experts from companies. At the end of the course students take an exam, which is designed to
evaluate the participants' success.

A BEST Course should fulfill these general criteria: it is aimed to provide new knowledge or skills
for participants and is taught by professional people.
It is normally an optimised event.
Subtypes are BEST Courses on Technology and BEST Courses on Career related skills.
BEST Courses on Technology is a BEST Course aimed for
increasing and widening the professional knowledge in a certain field
of technology, especially concerning modern technical applications of
technology and the latest research achievements.
BEST Courses on Career related skills is a BEST Course
about non-technological subjects in order to develop personal skills in
topics linked with working methods, communication techniques,
marketing, economics, project and organisation management and other
such soft skills, stressing practical work.

BEST Events on Education
BEST Events on Education are seminars that last
for about 6 days. They gather engineering students and professors from Europe with the purpose of evaluating
and finding new paths for higher engineering education in Europe.

Events on education are events where the students discuss and gather and/or distribute
knowledge on specific topics of concern for engineering students in the field of education.
This category includes events such as BACo and BSoE.
BEST Academics and Companies Forum - BACo is an event where students, representatives of
universities and companies gather to discuss current issues related to engineering education.
BEST Symposium on Education - BSoE is an event where students from all over Europe together
with representatives of universities gather to discuss current issues related to engineering education.

BEST Engineering Competition
BEST Engineering Competitions are events
where teams of students use their technical, social and communicative skills to compete in different categories:
Team Design, Case Studies, Negotiation and Debates.

Seasonal BEST Engineering Competition (Seasonal BEC) is an international engineering
competition with the individual participants from all over the Europe. The minimum number of
participants of Seasonal BEC is 22. To be participant of Seasonal BEC you should follow same
application procedure as in BEST Courses.
Teams of Seasonal BEC will be formed by the organisers after having selected the participants.

Local BEST Engineering Competition is a local event gathering participants from one
local university competing in teams and in different categories mentioned above.
National BEST Engineering Competition or Regional BEST Engineering Competition is a
national/international engineering competition which gathers the winners of a group of Local BEST
Engineering Competitions.
European BEST Engineering Competition - EBEC final is an international engineering
competition which gathers the winners of the National and Regional
Engineering Competitions. EBEC is organised once per year after annual rounds of
Local BECs and National/Regional BECs.

BEST Leisure Events
BEST also organises non-academic activities such as sailing weeks, ski-weeks, extreme sports.
These events have a higher fee and have no academic part. Only fun, fun and fun!

These are events that cannot be included in the other categories and emphasise elements of fun
and new experiences. These events may include but are not limited to:
- Outdoor activities
- Sailing and skiing meetings
- All kinds of sporting events
- Cultural events and carnival parties
